Central Pa. woman doing yard work dies after tree falls on her: police

A Franklin County woman was trying to get yard work done over the weekend when a falling tree killed her, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Tammy Smith, 42, of Chambersburg, died between about 3 p.m. and 4:52 p.m. Saturday on the 2800 block of Woodstock Road in Greene Township, according to state police.

Central Pa. high school dismissed early after threat made: police

Students at a York County high school were dismissed from class early Thursday after a threat was made toward the school, police say.

The threat involved Dallastown Area High School and students were sent home early as a precaution, according to a York County Regional Police Department release that came out at 2:49 p.m.

Central Pa. doctor charged with indecent assault of patient: state police

A Lancaster County doctor has been charged with indecent assault after Pennsylvania State Police say he inappropriately touched a patient during an office visit.

According to a statement from state police, troopers charged Vladimir Iakomi, 64, after a report from one of his patients that she had been assaulted on Sept. 30 during a visit to Iakomi’s office in Bart Township.

Central Pa. sex offender on the loose, armed and dangerous: sheriff

A Perry County man is at large after failing to appear at his sentencing hearing on child sexual abuse charges, authorities said.

Barry A. Bostwick, 60, of Rye Township, should be considered armed and dangerous, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday. The Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board also said Bostwick is a sexually violent predator.

Police search for several suspects after 7 cars stolen from Philadelphia garage

 An investigation is underway after multiple cars were stolen from a garage in Philadelphia on Sunday.

It happened on the 2900 block of Arch Street near 30th Street Station in the University City neighborhood.

Action News learned that several thieves broke into a lock box where the car keys were stored and got away with at least seven vehicles, mostly Audis.

William “Bill” Hynes, 51, of York, served as the CEO of United Fiber & Data, LLC (UFD) – a company aiming to build and manage a fiber optic line from New York to Virginia – from 2015 through 2019, according to court documents.

State Police begin wearing body cameras as part of a $40M pilot program in south-central Pa.

The Pennsylvania State Police have started a body-camera pilot program in south-central Pennsylvania, a long-awaited move that came less than two months after a fatal police shooting of a Glen Mills car enthusiast on I-95 in Philadelphia.

Approximately 43 state troopers at Troop H in Carlisle began wearing body cameras late last month, State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris said Monday outside police headquarters.

Manhunt Continues for ‘Survivalist’ Murder Suspect Who Escaped Jail

A manhunt continued on Sunday for a murder suspect who escaped from a Pennsylvania jail late on Thursday using bedsheets he tied together to climb down from the roof, officials said.

Pennsylvania State Police said that Michael Burham, who escaped from the Warren County Jail, could be hiding in the steep, rugged wilderness near the city of Warren, which is about 20 miles south of Jamestown, N.Y.

1 trooper killed, 1 critically wounded in central Pennsylvania

Officials are expressing shock and sadness at the death of one state trooper and the critical wounding of another hours apart in central Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Police in Juniata County said a man engaged troopers at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday near the Lewistown barracks and shot one trooper, who was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Authorities found the man shortly before 3 p.m. several miles away in Walker Township, and a gun battle ensued that killed the shooter and a trooper, police said.

Man killed by police in Berks County was wanted for homicides, arson and shootings

Investigators say the man who was shot and killed by officers in Wyomissing, Berks County was also wanted for several shootings and a recent arson case.

Lillian Smith says her 52-year-old brother Steven Smith and his girlfriend, 56-year-old Tabitha Price, were both killed on Monday night at a motel in Gloucester City, New Jersey.

The couple was found dead in a motel room around 6:30 p.m.

A woman was taken into custody after state troopers say she interfered with an arrest and struck a state police horse in Indiana County as college-age revelers were celebrating “IU Patty’s Day.”

According to a report from Pennsylvania State Police, New Kensington woman, Gabriela Rae Kerston, 20, was charged with a felony count of police animals, and misdemeanor counts of obstructing administration of law, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Man allegedly recorded people using bathroom at local university

After being confronted for reportedly videotaping a man as he used a bathroom on a university campus, the accused punched the alleged victim in the face and ran away.

While using the bathroom on Feb. 16 inside the Hetzel Union Building on Penn State’s campus just before 6 p.m., the accuser noticed a camera facing him, said officers with Penn State University Police department.

Jasmine Vought left the Hoffman Homes in Littlestown around 11:40 p.m. Jan. 4, state police said. The Hoffman Homes is a facility focused on behavioral health treatment for youth.
