Central Pa. man charged for sexual intercourse with animals

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police say he was caught having sex with dogs and recording the act.

Uriah P. Groff, 22, of Lancaster, had videos saved on his phone when investigators searched through it on Monday, PSP said.

Overnight storms downed power lines and trees in parts of Pa., NJ and Del.

After several days of extreme heat, storms swept through parts of the New Jersey causing damage after pelting areas in rain Saturday.

A tornado may have also briefly moved through the area, though, as of 8 a.m. Sunday, that was unconfirmed.

Heat stroke, heat exhaustion create threats during Central PA heat wave

With a five-day heat wave hitting Central Pennsylvania, heat stroke and heat exhaustion medical emergencies will likely be on the rise. Both have similar causes — the body not being able to cool itself down — but heat stroke can be life-threatening.

This heat wave could be especially dangerous because of the humidity that comes with it. Sweat evaporates and helps the body cool down, but when there’s lots of moisture in the air, the sweat has nowhere to go.

LGBT Center has new home in Harrisburg

The LGBT Center of Central PA’s 18-month search for a new home has ended. 

The center announced Tuesday the purchase of 1323 N. Front Street in Harrisburg as its new and permanent home. 

The 3,000 square foot building is in Midtown near Front and Verbeke, and accessible by bike, bus, car, or foot. The site is expected to host programs and events and serve as a hub for LGBTQ+ communities across Central Pennsylvania.

Another rare bird appears at central Pa. wildlife area, part of ‘mind boggling’ migration

Two weeks after the sighting of the limpkin in our region – a bird that, until recently, had never been seen as far north as Pennsylvania – another bird not usually found here has been spotted in the same area.

The hudsonian godwit was first spotted at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Clay Township, Lancaster County on July 19, according to the Lancaster County Bird Club. Portions of the wildlife management area also extend into Lebanon County.

Central Pa. officials host transportation townhall at Lancaster Airport

Transportation was driving discussion at a town hall meeting in the Lancaster Airport. County and state officials heard from a dozen people about the need to make traveling easier throughout Lancaster County.

“Whether it’s bike lanes or traffic jams on the streets, those are issues people are concerned about,” said Pa. House Representative Mike Sturla, a Democrat from Lancaster County.

As central Pa. hits hottest days, here’s how to keep cool, stay safe, save money

In the midst of summer 2023, central Pennsylvania is hitting the hottest temperatures of the year, which could lead to health problems and more.

After a stormy Tuesday, Accuweather predicts temperatures close to 100 degrees on Thursday and Friday. That’ll be in the midst of a stretch of 90-degree days from Wednesday to Saturday.

Pennsylvania home prices hit record high

June brought a significant milestone to Pennsylvania’s real estate scene, as the median sales price reached a record high of $229,004. This is a 4% increase from May’s previous high of $219,811.

A recent report, prepared for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, highlights a 5.5% surge in median prices compared to the previous year.

A man and a woman are dead following a shooting incident in York County on Sunday morning, according to police.

Springettsbury Township police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Glen Hollow Drive around 9 a.m. after the report of gunshots fired in the area.

Pride Festival of Central PA Embraces Inclusion and Respect

Eric Selvey has probably been asked more than 31 times why the Pride Festival of Central PA is held in July instead of June.

Selvey — who likens himself to Grover Cleveland because he’s serving his second stint as president — explains that it’s because they don’t want to compete for attendance with bigger Pride festivals in D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York. “And so the powers that be decided to move the festival to the last Saturday of July,” says Selvey, a 63-year-old optometrist.

Libraries and senior centers also often open their doors as cooling centers. The Community Cares Shelter in Carlisle does as well and organizers say they’ve had a lot of visitors.

Central Pennsylvania public pools struggle to stay afloat through maintenance and inflation

But more people in central Pennsylvania have to go out of their way to find a new place to swim, or find something else to do, because of pool closures. College lacrosse star from central Pa. hurt in head-on crash with wrong-way driver: UPDATE

A former Lancaster-Lebanon League high school lacrosse star was critically injured by a wrong-way driver Friday night in Chester, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Lancaster Online reported that Lucian Robert-Popdan Li, 19, was at a Chester County hospital after the crash. Police say that Matthew DeAngelis, 42, drove his GMC Sierra south into the northbound lanes along Route 202. The newspaper reported that police said DeAngelis collided head-on with Li’s Volkswagen Taos.

Central Pa.’s rainy stretch will be over in time for the weekend: forecasters

Rain and thunderstorms could crop up in the midstate amid an overcast Wednesday, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly cloudy day, with highs in the mid-80s. Showers and storms are possible between about 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Is Central Pennsylvania still in a drought?

It seems that the Midstate is seeing plenty of rain recently. Some areas were even seeing flash flooding with two to three inches of rain falling in some parts of our area. So, because of this, have drought conditions improved?
