Pennsylvania home prices hit record high

June brought a significant milestone to Pennsylvania’s real estate scene, as the median sales price reached a record high of $229,004. This is a 4% increase from May’s previous high of $219,811.

A recent report, prepared for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, highlights a 5.5% surge in median prices compared to the previous year.

New listings and closed sales were on the rise in Centre County in May, serving as some of the latest signs the local housing market is heating this summer.

That, in part, contrasts with the national real estate market, which saw a roughly 23% decrease in newly listed homes in May compared to last year, according to industry site Realtor.com.

The Mecum Car Auction returns to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A popular car auction returned to Harrisburg for the first time since 2019.

The Mecum Car Auction officially opened its doors to the public Wednesday at 8 a.m. at the Harrisburg Farm Show Center located on 2300 North Cameron St.

The world’s largest collector car auction will host an estimated 1,200 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, Hot Rods, and custom cars. All these cars are expected to roll across the auction block within the next couple of days.

While Auntie Anne’s pretzels and lemonade have previously been known as satisfying food-court snacks, parent company Focus Brands has worked hard on bringing its mall brands to new audiences and occasions.

In 2021, Auntie Anne’s doubled down on its digital presence and opened its first-ever drive-thru location in collaboration with sister brand Jamba. The transformation work paid off as Auntie Anne’s sales rank jumped from 105 to 76, growing 64.6% over the past year, according to the 2021 NRN Top 500 powered by Datassential.

Vintage items, antiques from central Pa. craft brewery owners to be auctioned off

Let the bidding begin for a piece of Pennsylvania craft beer history.

Carol and Ed Stoudt, owners of the former Stoudts Brewing Company in Adamstown, Lancaster County, are auctioning off some of their restaurant and brewery’s contents along with items from their private collection.

Bidders will have a chance to own Art Nouveau brass chandeliers from Stoudt’s beer hall, German steins, Black Forest carved furniture, whimsical circus novelties, a restored 1932 Auburn Convertible and a partially restored 1937 Ford Woody.

Pa. Realtors Association seeks life-sustaining business designation

The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors is suing the state to win “life-sustaining” business status for its members.

The suit challenging Gov. Tom Wolf’s closure order, claims most states have granted realtors that status and that Pennsylvania’s closure rules are arbitrary and unclear.

“The three essentials to life are food, clothing and shelter and the governor is preventing Pennsylvanians’ ability to gain shelter,” said PAR President Bill Festa. “Pennsylvania Realtors are responsible for helping people achieve that shelter but across Pennsylvania, first-time homebuyers, single parents, doctors and other emergency workers may be unable to ‘stay at home’ if they’re not able to secure their new home because of these orders.”

PAR CEO Mike McGee said that while the association isn’t aware of anyone specifically left homeless by the industry’s shutdown, it has caused hardships for many people in the process of renting, buying or selling a home.
