‘A true miracle’: All dogs adopted at central Pa. animal shelter days before Christmas

They’re calling it a miracle in Adams County.

Three days before Christmas, the Adams County Adams County SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) announced that its kennels are empty.

“Our community stepped up once again! This is the first time in 47 years that the Adams County SPCA is empty let alone at Christmas time, it is a true miracle!,” the organization posted on its Facebook page, along with a photo of their empty kennels.

Peeks of sun on Christmas, rain returns tomorrow in south-central Pennsylvania

Merry Christmas!

You may encounter a spotty shower and some patchy fog this morning, otherwise look for mostly cloudy skies.

Sunshine has been hard to come by lately, but we’ll finally get a few breaks this afternoon. Highs will reach the low 50s. That’s about 10 degrees above average, and much warmer than last year’s high of 25 degrees!

Santa Claus 2023: Where and when you can see Kris Kringle in central Pa.

Santa Claus’ schedule is busy this time of year, but he’s still been able to schedule numerous appearances in central Pennsylvania for the upcoming holiday season.

Santa will take up residence at several shopping locations for more than a month, including Bass Pro in Swatara Township. At other places, like at the West Shore Plaza in Lemoyne, he’ll just be stopping by for the day. Some venues, like the Capital City Mall in Lower Allen Township, will have opportunities for photos with your pet.

From Santa visits to Christmas markets, there are more than 54 free things to do this weekend

in Holidays

With 12 days to go before Christmas day, holiday events are plentiful this weekend. There won’t be 12 Lords a-leaping, but you’ll have many opportunities to visit with Santa, shop for unique gifts, take horse-drawn wagon rides and hear Christmas music.

Experience holiday magic inside the ballpark. View decorated trees as you stroll around the stadium. Vote for your favorite trees with a donation and help area non-profit organizations. Other activities are pictures with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, holiday movies on the suite level, s’mores, visits with “Frozen” characters, and live reindeer (Dec. 13 and 21 only).
