Walmart has opened the fourth of five next-generation fulfillment centers in Greencastle, Pa., 10 miles north of Hagerstown, Md. The 1.5 million-square-foot facility, which will employ more than 1,000 associates, is designed to expand access to next-day or two-day shipping for Walmart customers as well as supporting Walmart Fulfillment Services, the retailer’s third-party service for fulfilling items sold on Walmart’s marketplace.
“Walmart is paving the way for good jobs and great careers in the south-central Pennsylvania region with the Greencastle fulfillment center,” said Karisa Sprague, SVP, Fulfillment Network Operations for Walmart U.S. in a statement. “These tech-powered jobs will drive the future of Walmart’s continued promise of speedy shipping and delivery for customers on the east coast.”
