Union representing restaurant workers in Central Pennsylvania goes public

717 Restaurant Workers United, a labor union representing restaurant workers in the Central Pennsylvania area, is announcing that it is going public today.

Samuel Weyworth, the organization’s Executive Director of Outreach, says the union is dedicated to “representing any restaurant in the Central Pennsylvania area that is tired of being exploited.

The union says it is initially representing Cork & Fork, and Cork & Fork Osteria, but plans on representing “any restaurant whose employees are sick of being mistreated and taken for granted.”

On Monday, July 20, 2020, the union is kicking off their campaign with a #takeouttakeover encouraging people to call into both Cork & Fork locations and order takeout.

When ordering food, the union says it is encouraging customers to let management know that they stand with Cork & Fork employees, and then spread the word on social media with the hashtag ‘#IstandwithCork&Forkemployees.’
