Bill to boost funding for minority-owned businesses passes Pa. House

Pennsylvania’s minority-owned businesses may soon secure the capital needed to grow and remain competitive. 

Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives passed House Bill 2202 to create funding to provide low-interest loans and equity financing for eligible enterprises. Introduced by state Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Centre County, the bill advances to the state Senate for consideration.

Pa.’s manufacturers could make a dent in carbon emissions — if they’re convinced it’s good for business

Brett Anderson scoops up a handful of tiny pieces of black rubber at Lancaster County’s Ecore Flooring. Some slip through his fingers and bounce back into a huge bin, blending into the pile.

They’re rubber remnants of worn-out truck tires, ready to be repurposed into flooring products. Every night, seven or eight truckloads of the recycled rubber nubs are dumped into bins, sorted by size.

Two new Central Pennsylvania businesses opening and one announced closure

This week in the Midstate, we had two new businesses open their doors, and a long-time food truck and restaurant that announced its upcoming closure.

Valhallan Training Arena:

  • A new youth video game training center will soon open its doors in Cumberland County this weekend. The new center is going to come equipped with many PC gaming stations and a console table section as well. Valhallan offers youth memberships, camps, competitions, and more! The new business is situated right outside of Camp Hill.

Johnstown businesses named to Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Central Penn Business Journal named three Johnstown businesses to its 2022 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.

Concurrent Technologies Corp. and its wholly owned affiliate, Enterprise Ventures Corp., were each named to the list, along with Wessel & Co. public accounting firm.
