Over $200k awarded to Central Pennsylvania foodbanks, pantries

in Community/News

More than $2 million was awarded to 57 food banks, pantries, shelters and soup kitchens across Pennsylvania, including several in our area.

The funding is through the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) Reach and Resiliency Grants. Funded projects include mobile food pantries, expanded cold storage and warehouse space, delivery vehicles, and other investments that expand TEFAP’s reach into isolated or underserved rural or low-income communities.

Penn State’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Banquet awards central Pa. ‘trailblazers’

in Community/Event/News

Penn State Harrisburg’s Diversity and Inclusion department hosted its inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Banquet on Sunday evening to highlight community leaders making an impact on people of all different races and backgrounds in central Pa.

Dr. Wanda B. Knight, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, said the event will honor “trailblazers and champions of social justice.” She was the planner and organizer of the Sunday evening event.

Johnstown businesses named to Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Central Penn Business Journal named three Johnstown businesses to its 2022 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.

Concurrent Technologies Corp. and its wholly owned affiliate, Enterprise Ventures Corp., were each named to the list, along with Wessel & Co. public accounting firm.

VIA Public Media wins two 2020 Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters awards

in Entertainment

VIA Public Media has received two 2020 Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting Awards for a radio report about a Bucknell professor’s unique solar powered backpack project for refugees and a television documentary about a NASA flight director.

Lisa Mazzarella, Larry Vojtko and Paul Lazar have been awarded the 2020 Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award for Outstanding Radio Feature Story / Report / Series for the Keystone Edition story “Bucknell Professor Shines Light of Hope In to the Darkness of Lebanon” which premiered on November 23, 2019 on VIA Radio.
