Carlisle, PA — According to the the American Jewish Committee, nearly one out of every four Jews in the U.S. has been the subject of antisemitism over the past year.
After a couple of anti-Semitic incidents in the area the Jewish community is coming together with heavy hearts.
Here in Central Pennsylvania, we’ve seen a few incidents. One at the Lancaster Penn Square Menorah and at Dickinson College.
People from across Cumberland county gathered Sunday evening at Dickinson College to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah.
“This is the first night of Hanukkah, which feels very fanatically resonant given that the story of Hanukkah is one of the Jewish people sort of asserting their independence asserting their right to practice their faith asserting their right to live their culture in the face of discrimination and oppression.” says Rabbi Marley Weiner, The Director of the Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life.
