As part of his vision to transform Harrisburg’s nightlife scene, Joe Hobbs is tackling a new project.
The owner of Nyree’s Restaurant & Lounge on North Second Street said he recently signed a lease-to-buy agreement for The Lochiel Hotel at 901 Shenoy St. in Harrisburg.
“You could feel the history,” Hobbs said. “You wouldn’t believe you are in the city. It sits on its own private street.”
The two-story building stands out for its yellow paint scheme and is located in an obscure section of South Cameron Street near the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation building and Capital Area Greenbelt. The hotel dates to the 1800s and was at one time home to the Blues Society of Central Pennsylvania.
