The safety net for people who lose their housing in Harrisburg and other parts of central Pennsylvania has strengthened in recent years. But the resources for what are called ‘hardcore homeless’ people — those who for whatever reason do not wish to enroll in programs that could lead to housing — remains limited.
If you’d like to help, here’s a list of some of the local organizations whose mission is to assist those who are homeless in the Harrisburg region with food, clothes, showers, mail service, assistance referrals and overnight shelter.
