White Christmas for central Pa.? Long-range forecast examines chances for snow-covered holiday

As a dreary 2020 draws to a close, some people are putting up their Christmas decorations early to kickstart the holiday season with a little festivity and cheer.

One dazzling show by Mother Nature that could spark some hope and joy – a white Christmas – is possible for some parts of the country, according to a new, long-range forecast by AccuWeather.com.

But will central Pennsylvania see a holiday season right out of a Bing Crosby movie?

Using decades of experience in building long-range forecasts, AccuWeather senior meteorologist Paul Pastelok created a map of the United States, showing the areas where the historical probability exists that there will be at least 1 inch of snow on the ground on Dec. 25, using 30-year averages.
