Counties decide whether to follow orders; groups plan another Capitol protest; more: Latest on coronavirus in Pa

Wednesday was a decision day for some central Pennsylvania counties that were contemplating whether to abide by Gov. Tom Wolf’s schedule for reopening the state or setting their own timetable.

So far, 24 counties have moved into the yellow phase of the governor’s three-step, color-coded process, and 13 more will take that step Friday. Several counties were unhappy they weren’t included and have threatened to thumb their noses at the governor and move at their pace, not his.

Based on the outcome of meetings held today, Dauphin County will remain in the red phase. Lancaster County wasn’t completely clear on what it intends to do even while a majority of the commissioners said they are in support of switching to the yellow phase. Lebanon County was the one county that said it was full steam ahead, with plans to move to “yellow” on Friday and take the chance it won’t suffer the loss of funding that Wolf threatened.
