Long wait officially over following ribbon cutting for central Pa. thruway

NORTHUMBERLAND – It was a long time coming was a common theme Wednesday when officials cut the ribbon on the northern section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway (CSVT) and marked the start of construction on the southern section.

Approximately 200 invited federal, state and local officials along with representative of contractors and engineering firms attended the ceremony.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation held the event on the new limited-access highway in Northumberland County with the 4,545-foot-long bridge over the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in the background.
