Pa. car crash leads U.S. Marshals to Manhattan murder suspects

Two murder suspects were arrested in Pennsylvania after they were involved in a car crash in Dauphin County.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested the two suspects early Friday morning March 22.

Both Halley Tejada and Kensly Alston were taken into custody in York on charges of receiving stolen property. The charges stem from a motor vehicle accident that happened on March 13, when the vehicle Alston was driving collided with another, causing an accident on Jonestown Road, Dauphin County.

Pa. election 2024: How much the Democratic and Republican attorney general candidates have raised

In wide-open primary races for Pennsylvania attorney general, campaign finance reports show the Republican establishment is largely rallying around one candidate while donors are still spreading their cash out among the five Democratic hopefuls.

Democratic and Republican voters will select their parties’ candidates in the April 23 primary. Because Pennsylvania has closed primaries, voters who are independent or registered to third parties cannot participate, though they can vote in the Nov. 5 general election.

Bomb threats target library, its director over Drag Queen Story Hour

The scene outside the Lancaster Public Library on Saturday continued to grow increasingly more tense amid reports of several bomb threats targeting a Drag Queen Story Hour that had been planned for the afternoon.

The event was canceled Saturday morning after authorities found a suspicious package in the library.

‘Beanie bandit’ accused of stealing from central Pa. stores

A man police agencies in multiple states have deemed the “beanie bandit” allegedly stole over $4,000 worth of items from two central Pennsylvania stores.

The Lycoming Regional Police Department (LRPD) says they were called to the CVS Pharmacy on Lycoming Creek Road, Old Lycoming Township, to investigate a retail theft on February 10.

Being a welder | Tyler Tries It

There is a welder shortage in south-central Pennsylvania and across the country. It’s so severe that the American Welding Society has predicted a shortage of around 360,000 welders by 2027.

FOX43’s Tyler Hatfield went to Earlbeck Welding Training Center to light up the torch and put on the helmet, to learn about the trade and art of welding.

Pennsylvania’s population loss since 2020 occurred mostly in counties Joe Biden won

Newly released Census data show Pennsylvania’s population declines since the last presidential election are mostly concentrated in counties where President Joe Biden won in 2020.

About 45,000 Pennsylvania residents left counties that Biden won, according to the analysis from Franklin & Marshall College. Counties that voted for former President Donald Trump gained 4,500 residents, adding up to a net statewide loss of about 41,000 people from the 13.0 million residents counted during the 2020 census.

NEW DETAILS: 59 cats rescued from Windber home

Since the beginning of 2023 there have been multiple cases of animal cruelty and neglect in Pennsylvania.

On Monday, Central Pennsylvania learned of the newest case. According to the Cambria County Humane Society, 59 cats had to be rescued from a home in Windber home on Monday, March 11. The Animal Protective Services of The Humane Society of Cambria County said the situation was an “extreme hoarding case.”

Harrisburg International Airport continues project to expand cargo capacity by 30%

 Harrisburg International Airport brings in roughly 50,000 tons of cargo each year, but a new expansion could add to that total and bring jobs with it.

HIA is currently undergoing an expansion of its cargo apron to accommodate an additional three cargo planes to add to its current capacity of four.

TikTok could be removed from mobile devices in the United States as soon as late summer, following a decision from the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives.

A bill that passed the house with wide bi-partisan support could ban TikTok in the U.S. if the app refuses to part ways with its parent company, ByteDance, in the next five months.

Pennsylvania Churches Raise Funds to Eliminate $3 Million in Medical Debt

The leaders of two Pennsylvania dioceses – Central Pennsylvania Bishop Audrey Scanlan and Bethlehem Bishop Kevin Nichols – on March 10 celebrated the efforts of the Help, Healing and Hope initiative, through which churches from both dioceses raised $30,000 to eliminate $3 million in medical debts of fellow Pennsylvanians.

During an Evensong service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the two bishops joined the congregation as sheets of paper representing medical bills were set aflame in a metal bucket.

Lane restrictions set for Route 30 bridge connecting central Pa. counties

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced there will be lane restrictions on Thursday and Friday night, MArch 14-15, on Route 30 at the median barrier project on the Route 30 (Wrights Ferry) Bridge connecting Lancaster and York counties.

The bridge spans the Susquehanna River between Hellam Township in York County and Columbia Borough in Lancaster County, a press release said.

Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania launch show at Capitol in Harrisburg

A group of artists who support farmland preservation through their art are showing their work in the East Rotunda of the State Capitol in Harrisburg this month.

The show, “Our Farm Heritage,” is on display through Oct. 31. The members of Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania who are exhibiting are: Peg Klinger, Joanne Juhl, Brienne Brown, Anne Kenyon, Susan Nichols Gephart, Jeff Mathison, R Thomas Berner, Milt Trask, Cinda Kostyak, Barb Pennypacker, Avid Jones, Valerie Moyer, Jen Shuey and Martha Taylor. Taylor is the president.

Mayor vows to veto marijuana decriminalization in central Pa. town despite council approval

The mayor of North York on Tuesday night vowed to veto immediately an ordinance approved by borough council that would decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Just moments after the borough council voted 3-2 in favor of the ordinance, Mayor Nancy Brunk said she would veto, offering no further explanation.

71-year-old woman dead after central Pa. fire

A 71-year-old woman was found dead after a Tuesday morning fire in her home, York County authorities said.

The woman was oxygen-dependent and smoking before a fire that started early Tuesday morning on the first block of Chesapeake Estates in Jackson Township, according to Coroner Pamela Gay.

Norovirus season is underway in central Pennsylvania

The U.S. is in the midst of norovirus season, with central Pennsylvania and the Northeast region reporting an increase in cases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says outbreaks of norovirus, leading to symptoms such as stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea, are most common from late fall through early spring. Annually, the virus results in approximately 465,000 emergency room visits and between 19 million and 21 million cases nationwide.
